Scalable Dreams = Tangible Reality
A Rambling of Our Ridiculous Nature to Over Complicate
It would be ridiculous to claim that everyone is meant to be an entrepreneur. Obviously everyone has the innate ability to become all that they desire to become, but there has to be a certain level of potential and desire to become that, which they desire.
There are so many coaches around the world claiming that if you affirm, vision board or just think it to be true that it will come true, when in all reality; that simply isn’t so.
You must first write down the vision, goal or plan.
Doing this will allow you to see the road map that you must follow in order to obtain progress toward your visions and goals. Then, you actually have to create an action plan. An action plan is exactly as it sounds. What are the physical actions that you need to take, to achieve that you wish to accomplish?
So many people are randomly poking at their dreams, doing a little here and there. It is the consistent and ongoing action with a proven system to follow, that will allow you to achieve your desired results.
The next mistake that many people make is, you must have a realistic approach to life and business. If you expect to throw some ads on the internet, without ever being taught to do so properly, or create a website and publish it with some random products, without ever being taught to do so properly… and expect to make a “million dollars in a day,” then you are cheating yourself and you are about to be let down.
This is why many people come onto the internet, publish a website, join a bunch of affiliate programs and blow all of their money on Pay Per Click advertising. That is the approach of doing a half ass job and it will get you half ass results. Doing market research, keyword research, split testing to find out which articles, videos, headlines, blog posts and more work the best is the first step.
The second step is being cautious about your actions. If you are spending all of your time and energy, that includes money, on methods that aren’t working, continuing to plug away at those efforts are going to continue to deliver the same type of results. A whole lot more of a whole lot of nothing. But if you have been working on something that gets you some or a lot of results, it’s obvious that your time is better spent doing more of what is working.
The old saying goes, “20% of your actions will create 80% of your results.”
This is absolutely true on the internet, as it is in any traditional business.
Let’s talk about that for a moment. Traditional business versus an Internet Business.
What’s the difference? Basically… the tool that you use to get your message out there is the only difference. There is a chocolate vendor on one street corner and another at the opposite end of the street. The one on the opposite end is high end, they have a fancy cart and they have special packaging to make their product look better. The one on this end of the street has the same quality of chocolate but his cart is not as nice, his product packaging isn’t nearly as fancy as the other vendor’s… yet he has more customers! Why?
Well, the chocolate vendor was Milton Hershey. Instead of spending a bunch of overhead cost on improving the appearance of his candy, he decided to position a fan on his vendor cart. The fan blew the aroma of his chocolates toward the crowds of people on the busy street. It compelled them to come closer and eventually buy. Even some of the customers claimed that , “Your chocolate smells better than that higher end company down the street.”
Milton Hershey took one action to build his profit and gain more customers. While the other street vendor decided to spend a lot of effort on something that the customer cared nothing about. Milton Hershey knew that his customers would be compelled to purchase, if they had a compelling why. When it comes down to chocolate, it isn’t about the fancy packaging or what part of which area in South America it came from… it only matters what it tastes like. As we all know… without smell there is no taste and Hershey knew that smell is what caused a craving to taste.
It’s that one simple action that helped to catapult Milton Hershey to the top of the candy industry. 20% of his actions allowed him 80% of his results. If you currently have or plan to have a business, whether it be online or offline, what can you do… right now, to make it grow. Better still, what have you done today to build it bigger, stronger and more profitable.
I can remember when I planned the World Entrepreneur Success Training Program. I mapped it out in great detail. I even remember stating that I wanted it to have high quality video lessons. At the time, that would have been far beyond my budget. Not only that, technology for online streaming videos wasn’t that great at the time. It was unreliable and most peoples’ internet connections couldn’t handle it. But I did swear, that one day it would be so.
I first researched what my market was truly desiring to learn. Then, I started to research what was currently available. I then researched what my competitors were doing right, what they were doing wrong and what they could be doing better. Not for themselves, but for their customers. Then, I studied, implemented, created and researched new strategies every single day. I did this until I was completely pleased with my own results.
Then, I planned out an online audio course that would span over 10 months. I figured it’d take me at least that long to teach it and at least another 6 months for people to implement and become completely familiar with what I was teaching. Then there was the dawn of Web 2.0 and better video technology that was more affordable. I immediately familiarized myself with this video and marketing technology. But the kicker here was, I had a profitable online coaching program up and running while I was building the next one… to make what I created even better.
I soon realized that coaching live was just not an efficient way to run that program, so I created a 6 module fully automated video self study course. That was the ticket. Students did not have to rely on me being present to teach them, they could access it 24/7 and I did not have to be present… I could be doing other things and marketing my business while the current students were learning in their own time.
Then I realized that there is scalability. I could easily scale the business up or down, add to it or take away, raise the price or lower the price whenever I wanted to. I realized all of the above before I even began building the program. The nice thing was, I was able to record most of the lessons while implementing the strategies on my own business. That way, not only could students see how it’s done, but the could witness, in real time; how these strategies have been applied to a real business… not just some dummied up example.
It is so crucially important to create a plan, to see that vision and plan in its greatest detail and to handle every step one at a time… while looking forward a bit to see how each of your actions are going to affect and create more new actions in the future. Strategically setting yourself up for success in this way is a sure fire way to see more rapid and long lasting results.
One more thing, notice I had talked about “Scalability?”
Scalability doesn’t just apply to your business, it also applies to your visions, your life and your dreams. so many people are so focused on the big dream, that they are disappointed when it doesn’t work out. Think about this for a moment.
How many of your dreams and desires are scalable. How many of them can you make a bit smaller, when the going gets tough… so that you can continue to grow those dreams in any life or economic situation? On the other end of the spectrum, how many of those dreams can you scale UP!?
Seriously, when you started your planning process, you may have been thinking too small. Perhaps you have grown to the level where you can grow what you have already grown. Think about it. How many times have you made major accomplishments in your life and when it was done you thought to yourself, “That’s all there is to it?”
Did you leave yourself feeling not as excited as you hoped to be? You should always have many phases to a growing dream. A dream doesn’t have to die because it reached it’s peak. Perhaps you can expand upon the vision now and continuously throughout the creation of that dream… so that it can continuously grow and never end.
